Dancing Through Grief: A Journey to Eternity – My Experience with “For”
Hello dear readers,
I’d like to share with you an intimate glimpse into my recent dance performance titled “For,” which danced as a piece of our beloved Ballet Academy of Indonesia annual performance ”Manifest”. Under the guidance of the talented guest choreographer Vincent Kodrata, our team embarked on a heartfelt journey, bringing to life a narrative that speaks to the depths of human emotions. As a dancer, being a part of this performance was a truly transformative experience.
The Concept: We Could Be Worlds Apart, But We Are Close by Heart
“For” is more than just a dance performance; it’s a narrative that speaks to the universal emotions we all experience during times of grief and loss. The piece captures the essence of distance and longing, reminding us that even when we are physically separated, the bonds of the heart remain unbreakable. It’s a story about finding solace, healing, and hope amid the overwhelming process of grieving.
The Choreography: Vincent Kodrata’s Artistry
Guided by the creative vision of guest choreographer Vincent Kodrata, the choreography of “For” was a harmonious blend of movement and emotion. Vincent’s ability to translate complex emotions into fluid dance movements was awe-inspiring. The choreography mirrored the emotional roller coaster one goes through during the grieving process – from the depths of guilt and anger to the eventual emergence of hope and renewal.
The Cast: Bringing Emotions to Life
Our ensemble cast consisted of remarkable dancers, each bringing their unique essence to the performance. The synergy between us was palpable, and as I shared the stage with Jacinta Keisha Almira, Karin Setiadi, Putri Ayu Candraningtyas, Frank AP Rorimpandey, and of course, Vincent Kodrata himself, we felt a powerful connection that transcended the physical realm.

The Music: A Soul-Stirring Symphony
Music, as we know, has the extraordinary ability to touch the deepest corners of our hearts. The choice of songs for “For” was nothing short of brilliant. The emotional melodies of “Will I See You Again” by Thee Sacred Souls, the nostalgic notes of “Yesterday Once More” (Instrumental by Chillout Lounge from I’m in Records), and the evocative lyrics of “Ambilkan Bintang” by Sal Priadi all contributed to creating a soundscape that perfectly complemented the choreography and narrative.

My Personal Journey: Dancing Towards Eternity
As Jade Princessa, being part of this performance was a cathartic experience. The process of embodying the emotions of the dance, of transitioning from despair to hope, allowed me to explore my own feelings about loss and healing. Each movement felt like a step towards understanding, acceptance, and ultimately, the promise of reconnection in a realm beyond.

In Conclusion: Finding Hope in Movement
“For” was more than a dance performance; it was an emotional odyssey. It captured the essence of the human experience – the pain of loss, the struggle of grief, and the eventual emergence of hope. Through dance, we transcended the limits of language and touched the hearts of our audience, reminding them that the journey through grief is a process that leads us to a place called eternity.
Thank you for joining me on this introspective journey through “For.” Until we dance again, remember that even in the face of loss, the power of the human spirit can light up the path to eternity.
