Greetings, cherished readers! I am absolutely thrilled to recount the enchanting tale of our recent Ballet Academy of Indonesia‘s annual performance, ‘Manifest‘, directed by Miss. Anindya Krisna, held at the Jakarta Art Building on August 12, 2023. This remarkable evening was a true embodiment of the artistic process – a journey that takes us from the inception of ideas to the mesmerizing reality of the stage.
The Art of Manifesting: A Timeless Pursuit
The concept of ‘manifesting’ has been intrinsic to the artist’s path since the dawn of creativity. As artists, we are constantly challenged with turning abstract thoughts into tangible actions, taking concepts and transforming them into choreographic marvels. ‘Manifest‘ was a celebration of this very journey, where the fusion of music and movement breathed life into the thoughts that once resided only within our minds.
Ten Tales of Imagination: A Choreographic Wonderland
The stage was set to unveil ten magnificent dance pieces, each a testament to the boundless imagination of our talented choreographers. It was a showcase of how thoughts evolve into dance, how ideas take form in the delicate interplay of bodies in motion. The audience was transported through diverse emotions and narratives, each dance piece a unique expression of its creator’s vivid vision.
And here’s a delightful twist – just as choreographers crafted their masterpieces, audience members embarked on their own imaginative journeys. Every individual interpretation infused the performances with new life, painting the stage with a spectrum of perspectives and emotions.
Stepping into the Limelight: My Dance Moments
I had the privilege of gracing the stage with my presence in two exquisite dance pieces. “A Moment, A Glimpse,” meticulously choreographed by my beloved teacher, Miss Anindya Krisna, brought to life fleeting emotions and delicate connections. In “For,” a piece choreographed by the Vincent Kodrata, I had the opportunity to channel my inner artistry with other 5 dancers into movements that resonated with the audience.
However, the path to perfection was not without its challenges. Balancing my schedule between commercial shoots, photoshoots, and rehearsals proved to be a juggling act. The tightrope walk left me with limited rehearsal time, but I was determined to give my best to each performance. I trully sorry and thankful at the same time for my teacher’s patience, Miss. Anindya, who has been a huge support of my dancing career.
The Photographer’s Eye: A Treasured Perspective
I was really blessed by the presence of SKART family managed by Sebastian Kisworo, who came with 52 photographers that night. The support of 52 passionate photographers added an extra layer of excitement to the event. Their lenses were poised to capture the beauty of each moment, freezing the ephemeral dance sequences into everlasting memories. Regrettably, the lighting posed a challenge during ‘Manifest,’ and I want to extend my sincerest apologies to all the photographers who were anticipating optimal conditions. Your patience and understanding mean the world to us.
The Biggest Support
I’d like to express my profound gratitude to my senior pastor, Ps. Jesaya Henubau, who came all the way to see me dancing on stage for the very first time. Your presence holds a special place in my heart. Your belief in my ability to express myself through dance gave me the confidence to embrace the moment and showcase a side of myself that I had never shared before. I am truly thankful for your guidance and leadership that inspire me daily.
To my cherished Gekari Damai Sejahtera Church family, I am beyond grateful for the constant support and prayers that you have showered upon me since the beginning of my journey. Your unwavering faith in me has been a source of strength and motivation, pushing me to strive for excellence in all that I do. Your presence at the sidelines, cheering me on, and your heartfelt prayers have uplifted my spirits and reminded me of the power of a united community. It is humbling to know that I am surrounded by individuals who believe in me and stand by my side no matter what.
Through your collective support, I have been able to overcome challenges, break down barriers, and step into a new realm of self-expression. The love and acceptance that I have found within the walls of our church have made me realize the true essence of community and belonging. Each one of you has played an integral role in shaping my journey, and for that, I am eternally thankful.

Despite the hurdles, ‘Manifest‘ unfurled its wings and soared. The dedication of every dancer, choreographer, and team member was palpable. We overcame obstacles and breathed life into every moment on stage, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of our audience.
As I reflect on this unforgettable journey, I am reminded that manifesting is not just about turning thoughts into reality; it’s about embracing challenges, dancing through obstacles, and making every second count. And at the end of it all, we emerged victorious, with our dreams manifested on the grand stage.
