My Journey from Indonesia to Miami – Pursuing a Ballet Career Dream
August 19, 2022, marked a significant chapter in my life, as I embarked on a journey from the vibrant and culturally rich Indonesia to the enchanting city of Miami, Florida. This voyage was not just a relocation; it was the realization of a lifelong dream – my ballet career debut with the esteemed “Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida” for the 2022-2023 season. As I reflect on that unforgettable day, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the incredible support I received from my cherished friends, and my beloved church Gekari Damai Sejahtera community, particularly our Senior Pastor Ps. Jesaya Henubau. My “so called” management team, ”PT. Layanan Pengadaan Indonesia (LPI), was also there.
A Farewell from Home
The day of my departure began with a mix of emotions. My apartment, filled with memories of years spent in preparation for this moment, stood as a symbol of the hard work and dedication that had brought me here. It was in this space that I had trained tirelessly, honing my skills and nurturing my passion for ballet. Two of my best friends were even came all the way to the airport later that late night before my boarding time.
As I made my final preparations, the LPI management team arrived to see me off and took some documentations. Initially, their presence reassured me that I was not alone in this journey, I thought they were my new family, not knowing what the reality is waiting in front of me afterward.
The Strength of Friendship
One of life’s greatest treasures is the gift of true friendship, and on this day, I was reminded of just how blessed I am in that regard. My friends gathered at my apartment, their smiles masking the sadness of my departure. They encouraged me, celebrated my achievements, and shared in the excitement of what lay ahead.
Their presence and words of encouragement provided me with the strength and determination I needed to step onto that plane with confidence. True friends are the pillars of our lives, and I am eternally grateful for their unwavering support.
A Blessing from Above
Amidst the hustle and bustle of the airport, just about to enter the security check in, my mom’s phone rang. It was Ps. Jesaya Henubau, my senior pastor, calling to give his blessings and prayers. His timely call was a reminder that I carried not only the support of my friends and family but also the blessings of my church community with me.
Knowing that my church was standing behind me spiritually was a source of immense comfort. Ps. Jesaya‘s words of encouragement served as a spiritual anchor, reminding me that my journey was not just about pursuing a career but also a calling that had been recognized and blessed.
My departure from Indonesia on that memorable August day was more than just a physical journey; it was a leap of faith into the world of ballet and a testament to the power of a strong support system. My family, church community and friends have been my pillars of strength, and their unwavering support continues to inspire me as I pursue my ballet career with the “Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida.“
As I take the stage in Miami, I carry with me not only the skills I’ve honed over the years but also the love, encouragement, and blessings of those who have been by my side. This journey is a testament to the belief that with the right support, dreams can become a beautiful reality.
