September 25, 2019, my first day attending Orlando Ballet School. And it also the first day of my academic ballet education in overseas. How cool is that?
“A Leap of Faith – My Journey at Orlando Ballet School Academy 3”
In the summer of 2019, I embarked on a life-changing adventure as I stepped into the world of Orlando Ballet School, Academy 3. Excitement and fear intermingled within me, creating a concoction of emotions as I pondered the uncertainties that lay ahead. The prospect of pursuing my passion for ballet overseas was both thrilling and nerve-wracking, making it the most significant day of my life so far.
Gratitude
Before delving into the tale of my experiences, I must express my heartfelt gratitude to those who have been pillars of support in this journey. To my family, whose unwavering belief in me fueled my dreams; Ms. Anindya Krisna and Mr. Simon Pointon, whose ballet expertise shaped my skills; Sir Robin Lee, for the academic guidance that enabled me to complete high school earlier than it should be; my church, Gekari Damai Sejahtera, for spiritual and communal support; and Kato-san, a family friend whose kindness and endless encouragement have been invaluable. To all those who contributed materially, though unnamed, your generosity is not forgotten, and my prayers extend to you.
Mixed Emotions
As the day approached, I couldn’t escape the whirlwind of questions and concerns. Would I enjoy this new chapter? Could I forge new friendships? What about the teachers – would they accept me? The fear of being alone, far from home and family, added an extra layer of complexity to my emotions. But deep down, I knew that stepping out of my comfort zone was essential for growth.
The Big Day
Finally, the day arrived, marking the beginning of a profound chapter in my life. As I set foot into Academy 3 at Orlando Ballet School, a mix of excitement and trepidation filled the air. The studio, filled with the anticipation of budding dancers, echoed with the dreams and aspirations of each individual. It was both daunting and inspiring.
Facing the Unknown
With my mom by my side for the initial week, the reality of being on my own, surrounded by a host family, loomed ahead. The responsibility for my future now rested squarely on my shoulders. The unknown path I was about to tread became a canvas for me to paint with determination, hard work, and the lessons learned from my mentors.
A New Beginning
As I navigate through this new chapter, I am optimistic about the possibilities that lie ahead. I am not just chasing my dreams; I am living them. The support and prayers of those who believe in me will be the driving force behind my journey. To everyone who has played a role in getting me here, thank you. Your investment in my dreams will not be in vain.
As I pen down my initial impressions of joining Orlando Ballet School, I realize that this journey is not just about mastering ballet techniques; it’s about self-discovery, resilience, and embracing the unknown.
