A Magical Night at Cinderella
In February 2020, I had the incredible opportunity to be part of Orlando Ballet‘s professional production of Cinderella at the prestigious Dr. Phillips Center. The anticipation and excitement leading up to the performance were overwhelming, and the role I was entrusted with made the experience even more special – I was cast as the Fairy Godmother Attendant.
The sense of blessing and gratitude filled my heart as I prepared to take the stage in this enchanting production. The thought of being part of such a magical show, surrounded by talented dancers and performing in front of a captivated audience at a world-class venue, was a dream come true.

What added an extra layer of joy to this already exhilarating experience was the presence of a dear friend from The Ballet Academy, who, along with her husband, flew all the way from Jakarta to Orlando to witness my performance. The warmth of their support and the fact that they made the journey to be there for me made the entire experience even more special. It was the second time my friend had traveled across the globe to watch me dance, and the significance of her presence cannot be overstated. I couldn’t help but feel a connection to my roots, as I missed my life in Indonesia and longed for the familiarity of home.
To my dear friend, Sista Dewi, I extend my heartfelt gratitude. Your unwavering support means the world to me, and I am truly fortunate to have friends like you who go the extra mile to share in my joy and accomplishments.
As the performance date approached, I couldn’t help but wish that my family – my parents and my little sister – could be there to witness this milestone in my dancing career. I knew they wanted to be in the audience, cheering me on, just as much as I wished for their presence. The distance between us only intensified the longing, but I carried their love and encouragement with me on stage.
One small wish lingered in my mind – the desire for dancers to be allowed to bring cell phones backstage. How wonderful it would have been to capture those behind-the-scenes moments, the camaraderie among the cast, and the magical transformation into characters. Alas, the rules were set, and I had to rely on the vivid memories etched in my mind.
Performing in Cinderella was an experience of a lifetime, made all the more memorable by the support of cherished friends and the longing for the warmth of home. As I continue to dance and pursue my passion, I carry with me the memories of that night – a night that truly felt like a fairy tale brought to life on the stage of the Orlando Ballet.
