My Nutcracker Journey with Orlando Ballet School
Imagine the sheer excitement of realizing you’ll be performing in one of Orlando Ballet Company‘s prestigious productions—the timeless classic, The Nutcracker. The enchanting Dr. Phillips Center in Orlando, Florida, is set to be the stage for this magical event. Sharing the limelight with the talented trainees and professional dancers of the Orlando Ballet Company is an honor in itself. As I prepare to step onto the same stage, a wave of excitement and gratitude overwhelms me.
Backstage Thrills
The anticipation builds as I discover that each dancer is assigned their own personal dresser. Picture the thrill of seeing my name delicately inscribed on a tiny piece of paper, adorning my very own dresser. It’s the small details like these that make the experience truly extraordinary.
A Surprise Opportunity
My journey to The Nutcracker stage took an unexpected turn. The casting auditions had concluded even before my arrival in Orlando, and it seemed like I had missed my chance. However, divine intervention played its part, and not only did a door open for me, but I found myself cast in not one but four roles. From Clara’s friend to Arc Angel, Spanish, and Flowers, the Nutcracker production offered me a multifaceted opportunity.
A Debut in the US
The Nutcracker marks my debut performance on a U.S. stage, a milestone that fills me with both excitement and nervous energy. Dancing alongside seasoned professionals and fellow trainees adds an extra layer of significance to this performance.
International Support
The unexpected support from a friend and her husband, who flew all the way from Indonesia to witness my Nutcracker debut, left me both honored and touched. The distance didn’t deter their enthusiasm, and I hope my performance lived up to their expectations.
Family Absence
While the joy of performing is immense, there’s a tinge of sadness as my family couldn’t witness this pivotal moment. Despite being offered a complimentary ticket, logistical challenges prevented them from attending. As I graced the stage, I couldn’t help but yearn for the day my family could witness my passion firsthand.
Future Hopes
As the curtain fell on my Nutcracker performances, a silent prayer lingered for the day my family would see me dance on stage. Despite the absence of video recordings, the memories created on that stage are etched in my heart, and I hold onto the hope that one day, my family will share in the joy of my performances.
